Carpool Club is the smart way to commute. As a passenger you can take advantage of the empty seats in cars traveling in the same direction as you during peak times.
It’s a great alternative to public transport or driving yourself.
You can get picked up and dropped off at the address you choose which is potentially much more convenient than public transport. And less stressful than crowed buses and trains.
You can filter the criteria of the driver that gets allocated your trip.
You can seek drivers that are the same gender as you.
You can also specifically request a smokers or non-smoker and filter on the age of the driver or the car.
Carpool Club uses Geo-positioning technology to connect passengers to drivers in real time.
This means there’s no need to plan trips in advance. There is also an easy and transparent payment mechanism that allows you to compensate your driver by buying tokens on the app. So no cash is required nor awkward discussions about what’s “fair” price for the trip.
Carpool Club trips are paid for with tokens which passengers purchase and which get transferred to drivers when they complete a trip.
Tokens are bought on the Passenger App by entering a credit card. Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards are all accepted.
The number of tokens required for trips is calculated based on the passenger pick-up and destination locations as follows:
· The first 7.5km requires 2 tokens
· Every subsequent 7.5km (or part thereof) requires another 1 token.
As an example, a trip from Chatswood to Sydney CBD will require 3 tokens. The price for tokens is stated on the app and the Carpool Club website.
If more than one passenger travels tokens will be required for each passenger and up to 4 passengers can be booked on one trip.
By carpooling you improve the efficiency of your trip potentially taking cars off the road which reduces traffic congestion.
Less cars also means less pollution which is good for the environment.
And carpooling is a much more convenient alternative to public transport or driving yourself. This is why we say Carpool Club is the smart way to commute.
